START
Mentor Match is a benefit only available to APA members, including participants in the AICP Candidate Pilot Program. First, complete your MyAPA profile; presenting a complete and accurate profile is key to successful selection and matching. This might include: confirming that your contact information is up to date, adding a professional profile picture, and expanding your bio to include your education and job history. When your profile is complete, return to this page and move on to step two.
ENROLL
Are you enrolling as a mentor or mentee? Perhaps both? Sign up by clicking the appropriate link below:
Make selections for each of the program demographics to set your preferences. Demographics include: topics, venue, specialties, career stage, and start/end date. Please note that some fields are required for enrollment. The more information you provide, the higher the match compatibility. Keep in mind that to request a mentor or mentee, you must complete this enrollment step.
SEARCH
Use the Mentor Program Directory to input your search criteria. Start by selecting the topic(s) of interest, which may include:
- Division Affiliation
- Sector
- Expertise
Then, select the mentoring venue, career stage, specialties, name, and location. If you are a mentee in the AICP Candidate Pilot Program, you must select an AICP member as your mentor.
- Track your mentoring relationships
- Participate in discussion forums on mentoring topics
- Search for helpful mentoring resources
CONNECT
Congratulations! You have completed steps 1-3 and are now ready to connect with other participants. You are welcome to do one or multiple searches. If you're unsure of what search criteria to use, select "Search for ALL of the selected values." The Mentor Match Program Directory will do the work to populate the results.
Click on a member's name to view their profile page. If you think it's a compatible match, click the orange ‘Request mentor/mentee’ button under their picture to request a connection. If it's not a desired match, simply use the back button to return to your previous search results.
